Hall Leads Spartans as Upstate Completes Play at A-Sun Championships

DeLand, Fla. – USC Upstate turned in a 341 in the final round of the 2011 A-Sun Women's Golf Championship and fell a spot to finish the tournament in 10th place Wednesday afternoon at Victoria Hills Golf Club.
Upstate freshman Amanda Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.) led the Spartans throughout the tournament, finishing as the low Spartan in a tie for 31st. She carded rounds of 73, 82 and 84 for a 239 total.
Upstate started the day in ninth place, three strokes ahead of Lipscomb. However, as the Spartans turned in a 341, the Lady Bisons shot a 334 to take ninth place. Two-time defending champion Stetson used its home course advantage to post a final round 291 to win its third consecutive championship with an 894 total. Campbell was second at 906 and was followed by Kennesaw State (917), East Tennessee State (917), Florida Gulf Coast (917), Mercer (926), Jacksonville (945), Belmont (946), Lipscomb (998) and Upstate (1002).
Stetson's Alex Buelow shot a 1-under-par 71 and finished at even-par for the tournament to win the individual championship. She won by five strokes.
Hall and fellow freshman Rachel Lewis (LLanishen, Wales) each shot 84 on Wednesday to lead Upstate. Lewis finished 40th with a 246 total. Johanna Ebenhag, a senior from Gothenberg, Sweden, closed out her career with an 85 on Wednesday. She finished as the third-lowest Spartan in the tournament with a 256 total and tied for 42nd. Taylor Pleier (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished 46th with a 261 tournament, while Marissa Clontz (Greenville, S.C.) was 49th with a 275 total.
