Ebenhag, Pleier Earn NGCA All-American Scholar Honors

Spartanburg, S.C. – A pair of Spartan golfers, who helped lead the USC Upstate women's golf team on the course and also paced the team in the classroom, have been honored for their academic prowess as Johanna Ebenhag and Taylor Pleier have earned All-American Scholar honors by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA).
Ebenhag, a native of Gothenberg, Sweden and a senior in 2010-11, and Pleier, a Spartanburg native who was a freshman last year, were two of 13 women's golfers from the Atlantic Sun Conference to earn All-American Scholar honors.
The NGCA recognizes academic excellence for women's college golfers in NCAA Divisions I, II and III. Recipients must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.500 or better.
Ebenhag earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year and graduated with a 3.987 GPA with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Pleier, also a Business Administration major, earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall and owns nearly a 3.6 GPA for the year. Both were named to the A-Sun All-Academic team, while Ebenhag earned additional conference academic honors as a President's Scholar (ending her career with a 3.800 GPA or better) and as a Conference Scholar (earning a 3.400 GPA or better).
Ebenhag and Pleier helped lead the women's golf team to a strong performance in the classroom during the spring semester. The squad finished with a 3.279 GPA, the third-highest in the department, and placed seven of its nine players on the A-Sun All-Academic team.
