
Upstate Volleyball Falls to Lipscomb in Three Sets

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The USC Upstate volleyball team (4-10, 0-2 A-Sun) dropped a 3-0 decision tonight in Music City by scores of 25-14, 25-9, 25-18 to Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb (9-6, 3-0 A-Sun).
Senior Morgan Thomas led the Spartans with 12 kills, while junior Emily Sanders registered 16 assists. Sanders also added seven digs, four kills and three blocks. Freshman Kayla McAvoy posted four kills and two blocks. On the defensive side, sophomore Morgan Page recorded a team-high 11 digs.
The Bisons were led by Kaycee Green and Katie Rose with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Abby Fay dished out 30 assists, while Caitlin Dotson added a double-double with 10 assists and 11 digs. Megan Stout posted a team-high 13 digs.
Lipscomb holds a 7-0 advantage in the all-time series against Upstate with a 4-0 mark at home. Prior to tonight's contest, Upstate fell to the Bisons 3-1 Oct. 9, 2010 in Spartanburg, S.C.
Upstate is back in action tomorrow, taking on Belmont at 3 p.m. Belmont has a 6-0 record against the Spartans, including a 3-0 mark at home. The Bruins picked up a 3-0 win against the Spartans Oct. 8, 2010 in Spartanburg, S.C.
