Hall, Lowe Lead Upstate in Final Round of A-Sun Championships

New Smyrna Beach, Fla. – Amanda Hall and Brittany Lowe, who helped lead the USC Upstate women's golf team throughout the year, paced the Spartans in the final round of the A-Sun Women's Championships Wednesday, each carding a 79 at Venetian Bay Golf Club.
Upstate shot a 322 in the final round and finished ninth with a 954 total. The Spartans were just three strokes out of an eighth-place finish.
Kennesaw State shot a 295 in the final round and claimed the A-Sun Championship with an 871 total. The Owls staved off a rally by East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers shot a 293 and finished second with an 875 total. Mercer was third with an 880 total and was followed by Stetson (890), Jacksonville (926), Belmont (932), Florida Gulf Coast (939), Lipscomb (951) and Upstate (954).
ETSU's Gabriella Wahl was first on the individual leaderboard after each of the first two rounds. However, Mercer's Lacey Fears shot a 72 in the final round to tie Wahl at the end of regulation play. Wahl, though, survived the playoff, winning on the second playoff hole to take the individual championship with a 213 total.
Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.) was the low Upstate player in the tournament. She tied for 20th with a 230 total after shooting 79 on Wednesday. It marked the fifth time this season that she led the team in tournament play. She turned in three-straight rounds in the 70's.
Lowe (Spartanburg) shot her second consecutive 79 Wednesday and finished as the second-lowest Spartan in the tournament. She finished tied for 35th with a 239 total with teammate Taylor Pleier (Spartanburg, S.C.). Pleier carded an 81 in the final round of the tournament.
Kristi Goodman (Easley, S.C.) fired an 83, her second-lowest round of the season, on Wednesday and finished 42nd with a 258 total. Marissa Clontz (Greenville, S.C.) shot a 91 in the final round and finished 41st with a 254 total.
