Johnson Earns Final A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week Honor

MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Matt Johnson (Elgin, S.C.) of the USC Upstate men's track & field team was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office today.
This marked Johnson's first-career A-Sun Athlete of the Week honor, coming after a school-best performance at the Clemson Tiger Qualifier May 11.
The sophomore posted a program record time of 1:51.39 in the men's 800-meter run to claim third-place last weekend. He beat the previous record of 1:53.13 set by junior Cameron Thomas (Niceville, Fla.) at the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Outdoor Championship.
