Goodman Named NGCA All-American Scholar

Spartanburg, S.C. – After posting a perfect 4.0 GPA for the entire year, USC Upstate freshman golfer Kristi Goodman was named an All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA).
Goodman, who will be a sophomore on the 2012-13 Upstate women's golf team, was one of 13 women's golfer's from the A-Sun to earn All-American Scholar honors. In all, 602 women's golfers from NCAA Division I, II & III institutions earned the prestigious distinction from the NGCA.
"I am proud of Kristi and her success in the classroom," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton. "Balancing her golf schedule while maintaining a 4.0 is difficult to do and shows how well she manages her time as a student-athlete."
A native of Easley, S.C., Goodman played in seven events and 19 rounds for Upstate as a freshman in 2011-12. She played three events in the fall and four in the spring, including suiting up for the 2012 A-Sun Championships.
Goodman, a Business Administration (Marketing) major, was one of four Upstate student-athletes to post a perfect 4.0 GPA in 2001-12. The other four were Hannah Al-Sakati (women's tennis), Kara Lohr (softball), and Kelsie Queen (volleyball).
