Winston-Salem, N.C. – Junior Alexis Jacobs led the USC Upstate track and field team for the second straight day as the Spartans wrapped up competition at the Hilton Garden Invitational Saturday inside the JDL Fast Track.
Jacobs continues her impressive start at Upstate by breaking another of her school indoor records for the second consecutive day. She set a new school record, and personal-best, in the weight throw with her mark of 15.93-meters (52-03.25) to place sixth in the event. Jacobs eclipsed her own school record Friday in the shot put where she also finished sixth.
The performance by Jacobs capped off a day in which the Spartans achieved six new personal-bests and one other school record broken. The Upstate women had three personal-bests attained and one school record reached, while the men had two athletes set new personal-bests.
On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Heaven Briggs, Dominique Nock, Essence Jackson and Ashley Edmond broke the school's indoor record as they finished eighth with a time of 4:02.03. The previous mark was set by Nock, Briggs, Rebecca Elliott and Ashleigh Torres at last season's A-Sun Indoor Championships.
