Winston-Salem, N.C. – Alexis Jacobs and Jasmine Polite both earned their first career A-Sun Indoor All-Conference honors on Saturday to highlight the opening day for USC Upstate at the 2015 A-Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships inside the JDL Fast Track.
The Upstate women currently sit in 4th place of the team standings with 31 points while the men are 5th with eight points.
Jacobs became the first Spartan in program history to receive All-Conference accolades in the shot put after finishing 2nd in the event. The Columbia, S.C. native broke her own school record after recording a throw of 13.89-meters. She previously held the mark of 13.86-meters set earlier this season at the Hilton Garden Invitational in Winston-Salem.

She finished 3rd in the 3000-meters after completing the course in a time of 9:51.81, and just .21 seconds shy of breaking the three-year old school record held by Sang.
KeAndrea Ladson, Brenicke Johnson and Semaj Tolliver all qualified for the finals tomorrow of their respective event. Ladson broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, previously set at the season-opening UNCG Six-Way Meet, after placing 6th with a qualifying time of 8.92. Johnson and Tolliver both qualified in the 60-meter dash as Johnson was 3rd with a 7.56 and Tolliver 7th with a 7.77.
Brittany Walls just missed recording her second straight All-Conference recognition in the indoor pentathlon after finishing 4th with a school record 3,371 points. She also broke her own school record in the event after setting it at the Bob Pollock Classic Jan. 23-24. Walls would break another of her school records in the high jump portion of the indoor pentathlon. She turned in a leap of 1.70-meters to finish 2nd, while earning a 1st place performance in the indoor pentathlon shot put with a mark of 12.44-meters.
On the men's side, Blake Hayes had the highest individual finish of the day for the Spartans. He placed 4th in the shot put after posting a personal-best throw of 13.05-meters.
