Spartans Score Three Top-Five Finishes on Opening Day of ETSU Invite

Johnson City, Tenn. - Seniors KeAndrea Ladson and Griffin Eubanks along with junior Destinie Sykes scored top-five finishes to lead the USC Upstate track and field team on the first day of the ETSU Invite at ETSU/MHSA Athletics Center on Friday.
Ladson finished with the fourth-fastest 60-meter hurdle preliminary time as she crossed the finish line in 8.99 seconds. Ladson's time was just shy of her school-record time of 8.92 set last season. She will compete in the 60-meter hurdle finals tomorrow at 4:40 p.m. Jazmine Burse finished in 10th place in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 9.21 seconds.
Ladson and Sykes scored top-five finishes in the women's triple jump. Ladson finished in second place with a jump of 11.62 meters, followed by Sykes in third place with a leap of 11.52 meters.
Eubanks finished the men's 5,000-meters in fifth place in 15:26.34. Desman Martin scored a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.81 meters.
The meet concludes tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. with the women's 3,000 meter run.
