Sykes Named ASUN Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate senior Destinie Sykes was named the ASUN Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced this afternoon. Sykes takes home the honor for the first time in her Upstate career.
At the season-opening UNCG Early Bird on Sunday, Sykes won the triple jump with a school-record distance of 11.72 meters, breaking the previous record of 11.71 meters. Sykes won the event by nearly a full quarter of a meter.
Sykes also competed in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles.
Upstate returns to the track at the ETSU Invitational on January 13-14.
