
Cornfield Leads Upstate to Sixth-Place Showing after First Day of Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

Howey in the Hills, Fla. – The USC Upstate men's golf team is in sixth place following the opening two rounds of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular Saturday from the par-71, 6,966-yard Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.
Upstate finished the first day with a team score of 590 (296-294), two strokes behind fifth-place Campbell. A total of nine strokes separate the Spartans from second-place Texas Tech at 581.
Ryan Cornfield finished the day in a tie for seventh place with a 143 (71-72) after firing a team-best 71 during the first round. Sebastian Lopez Bulla is in a tie for 23rd position with a 147 (74-73), while Taylor White (78-74) and Andrew Purcell (77-75) are even in 42nd place with a 152. Matt Carter finished the day in a tie for 72nd place at 159 (74-85).
Playing as an individual, Trey Taylor is tied for 74th with his score of 160 (81-79).
South Florida leads the tournament by 13 strokes over Texas Tech with a 36-hole score of 568. USF's Chase Koepka leads the individual standings by two strokes after an opening day 137 (70-67).
Upstate concludes the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular tomorrow before playing in the Southern Intercollegiate on Monday.
