
Upstate to Compete at Charlotte Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – After a weekend off the USC Upstate outdoor track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Charlotte Invitational. The meet will be held at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of UNC Charlotte.
At the Terrier Relays on April 2, Upstate set new school records in the men's 4x100-meter relay, men's 200-meter dash, men's 400-meter hurdles and women's 400-meter dash.
Patrick Jamison's school-record time of 21.62 in the men's 200-meter dash is the fastest in the conference this season. Tanner Saunders holds the fastest time in the A-Sun thus far in the men's 400-meter hurdles after setting a new school-record time of 53.00. Upstate also holds the fastest league time in the men's 4x100-meter dash as Jamison, Darius Marshall, Tyriek Sampson and Ezequiel Sepulveda crossed the finish line in a new school-record time of 42.03. Kayla Jordon's new record time of 56.87 in the women's 400-meter dash is tied for the third-fastest time in the conference.
Upstate returns to Charlotte for its second meet this season after competing in the 49er Classic on March 18-19. Saunders scored a fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles while Jordon, KeAndrea Ladson and Destinie Sykes each scored top-10 finishes.
Live results will be available for the meet on www.upstatespartans.com. The meet begins tomorrow with the heptathlon at 2 p.m. Saturday's action begins at 9 a.m. with the decathlon. A total of 14 schools are entered in the meet.
The Spartans travel to Elon, N.C. next Saturday for their final meet before the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships on May 13-14.
