
Track Sets Four School Records at Terrier Relays

Spartanburg, S.C.- The USC Upstate track and field teams set four school records at the Terrier Relays held at Spartanburg High School on Saturday.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Darius Marshall, Patrick Jamison, Tyriek Sampson and Ezequiel Sepulveda set a new school record as they finished in fourth place with a time of 42.03. Jamison finished in third in the 200-meter dash in a school-record 21.62. Tanner Saunders set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.00. Saunders finished in second place.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Darius Jones, Saunders, Sampson and Jamison teamed up to win the race with a time of 3:18.04. Jamison finished in fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.95. Upstate had three of the top five runners in the 400-meter hurdles as Kyle Drollette finished in third place (53.81) and Cameron Pratt in fifth (55.28). The 4x800-meter relay team of Marcus Miles, Calin Schumacher, Roman Mealing and Dorian Jones finished in second place (7:57.42). James Jones finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.34). Desman Martin finished in fifth place in the triple jump (14.03 meters) with Donnie Hutchinson scoring a ninth place performance (13.03 meters). Devlyn Philson was 10th in the hammer throw (39.29 meters).
Kayla Jordon won the 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 56.87. Jordon was the only runner to finish the event in under 57 seconds.
Brenicke Johnson earned a second place showing in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91. The 4x800-meter relay combination of Ashleigh Torres, Rebecca Elliott, Molly Bliss and Essence Jackson scored a third place finish (9:46.07). Courtney Bradley finished in sixth in the 400-meter dash (57.99), with Heaven Briggs recording an eighth place finish (58.58).
Kennedy Holton finished in fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles (15.26) followed by KeAndrea Ladson in sixth (15.30). Ladson tied for third place in the high jump (1.54 meters) and was fourth place in the long jump (5.58 meters). Holton scored her second top-five of the afternoon with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.79), with Destinie Sykes coming in fourth place (1:05.98). Jazmine Burse finished eighth in the shot put (10.72 meters). The women's team closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 4x400-meter relay as Jackson, Bradley, Ladson and Jordon crossed the finish line in 3:57.81.
The Spartans are off next week before returning to action at the Charlotte Invitational on April 15-16.
