Holton Sets School Record on Opening Day of A-Sun Championships

Jacksonville, Fla. – Kennedy Holton set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles as the USC Upstate track and field teams opened the 2016 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
Holton qualified for Saturday's finals with a school-best time of 14.13, breaking her previous school record of 14.45. KeAndrea Ladson also qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles. Ladson and Jazmine Burse have completed four events of the heptathlon with Ladson sitting in second place with 3,004 points. Brenicke Johnson and Semaj Tolliver qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash.
James Jones, Tanner Saunders, Amun Jackson, Kyle Drollette and Ronald Collins, Jr. will compete in the 100-meter hurdle finals tomorrow. Patrick Jamison, Ezequiel Sepulveda and Darius Marshall advanced to the finals in the 100-meter dash. Desman Martin finished in fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.87 meters. Jaquille Mosley finished in sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 12.05 meters.
The meet continues tomorrow at 9 a.m. with the final five events of the men's decathlon followed by the final three events of the heptathlon.
