
Carter, Warnock Lead Upstate after Round One of Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. – Matt Carter and Jordan Warnock each carded rounds of even-par 72 on Friday afternoon to lead the USC Upstate men's golf team during the first round of the Furman Intercollegiate from the par 72, 7,004-yard Furman University Golf Course.
Upstate finished the first day with a team score of 294 and is in 13th place out of 21 teams. A total of four strokes separate the Spartans from Virginia Tech in 10th place.
Carter and Warnock are both tied for 27th place with their rounds of 72 and are followed one stroke back by Taylor White who is tied for 48th at 73. Trey Taylor sits tied for 104th after his first round 77 and Sun Paripunna, playing in his first collegiate tournament, is tied for 113th at 79. Playing as an individual, Sean Stanistreet had an opening round 80 and is tied for 116th position.
Georgia Southern leads the Furman Intercollegiate following the first round at 9-under 279 and holds a one stroke lead over Clemson. Brett Barron of Georgia Southern holds the individual lead by three strokes at 9-under 63.

- The opening round 294 turned in by Upstate on Friday is the lowest in any round this season. The Spartans had a second round score of 296 at the Bridgestone Match Play to open their fall season.
- Upstate leads the Furman Intercollegiate after day one in par 3 scoring at 1-under par and a 2.95 stroke average. The Spartans are also 6-under on par 5 holes to go with a 4.70 stroke average.
- Upstate finished the first round with 46 pars and 19 birdies.
- Warnock led the Spartans with five birdies, while Carter and Taylor added four each, and White and Paripunna contributed three.
