
Upstate Shoots Season-Low Round on Second Day of Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team carded its lowest score of the season with a second round 293 to highlight day two of the Furman Intercollegiate on Saturday from the par 72, 7,004-yard Furman University Golf Course.
The Spartans are currently tied with Francis Marion for 15th place in the team standings at 587 (294-293). A total of five strokes separate Upstate from Virginia Tech in 10th place.
The Spartans had four players improve their scores on Saturday from the first round led by Matt Carter and Taylor White who both finished at 1-under 71 on the day. Carter is the top performer for Upstate through two rounds and sits tied for 24th place at 143 (72-71) while White is one stroke back in a tie for 33rd with a 144 (73-71). Jordan Warnock is tied for 62nd position at 148 (72-76) following his second round 76. Sun Paripunna improved his second round score by four strokes with a 75 and sits at 154 (79-75) for the tournament to tie for 110th. Trey Taylor rounds out the standings for the Spartans in a tie for 115th place after shooting a 78 and is at 155 (77-78) overall.
Sean Stanistreet, playing as an individual, also improved his score by four strokes with a 76 and is tied for 118th place at 156 (80-76).
Clemson moved into first place on the team leaderboard after shooting a second round 276 and leads USC-Aiken by 11 strokes at 20-under par 556. Individually, Wofford's Andrew Novak holds a four stroke advantage heading into the final round at 11-under 133 following his second round 66.
The final round of the Furman Intercollegiate will tee off at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Live scoring of the tournament can be seen on www.upstatespartans.com via live stats.

- For the second straight day Upstate recorded its lowest team round of the season. The Spartans opened play at the Furman Intercollegiate on Friday with a 294.

- In par 4 scoring, the Spartans have compiled a 4.26 stroke average.
- Upstate has collected 94 pars and 33 birdies through the first two rounds of the tournament.
- Carter and Warnock lead the team with eight birdies each while White has seven, and Paripunna and Taylor five. Stanistreet has also posted five birdies.
- Taylor recorded the team's first eagle of the tournament after carding a three on the par 5 sixth hole.
- Paripunna and White rank among the tournament field in par 3 scoring and pars, respectively. Paripunna is at even-par on the par 3 holes for a 3.00 stroke average and White has added 23 pars.
