
Two Spartans Receive ASUN Women's Golf Postseason Honors, Paksanont Named Freshman of the Year

Braselton, Ga. – USC Upstate freshman Pan Paksanont became the first women's golfer in program history to be named ASUN Freshman of the Year, and earned postseason recognition along with teammate Anna Chanthaphaeng as the ASUN Conference announced its women's golf postseason awards on Saturday evening during a ceremony held at the Legends Course at Chateau Elan.
Along with ASUN Freshman of the Year honors, Paksanont was voted Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team. Chanthaphaeng joined Paksanont on the All-Freshman Team.
Paksanont is also the first Spartan women's golfer to be named All-Conference and All-Freshman along with Chanthaphaeng.
As a freshman, Paksanont led the team in scoring this season with a 76.09 stroke average after playing in all nine events and 22 rounds. She posted two rounds of par or better and compiled a team-leading four top-10 finishes. Paksanont had a career-low round of 72, tied for lowest on the team, twice at the CSU Fall Invitational and Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
The Nonthaburi, Thailand native had the highest individual finish five times this season for Upstate. She recorded a career-best finish of tied for eighth out of 95 players at the Low Country Intercollegiate. Paksanont also tied for ninth at the Jacksonville Classic, was tenth at the Terrier Intercollegiate and tied for 10th at the Lady EagleCat Invitational. The freshman had scores in the 70's 20 times including in each of her first 11 rounds.
Chanthaphaeng was one of four players on the team to play in all nine events and 22 rounds this season. She ranked second on the team with a 78.05 stroke average and tied for the team-lead with two rounds of par or better. The freshman compiled one top-10 finish and recorded rounds in the 70's 15 times. She had a career-low round of 72, tied for lowest on the team this season, twice at the CSU Fall Invitational and Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.
The Boiling Springs, S.C. native was the top individual performer at four tournaments including the Winthrop Intercollegiate, Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic, Lady EagleCat Invitational and Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. Chanthaphaeng collected a career-best finish of tied for 8th at the Lady EagleCat Invitational, while placing in a tie for 11th at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.
