SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Throughout the month of September the Atlantic Sun Conference announced their All-Decade team selections (2001-2010), with USC Upstate collecting six selections from the conference.

Morgan Childers (Softball, 2008-11), Josh Gallman (Men's Golf 2007-10), Perish Goggins (Men's Track &Field 2008-12), Anna Novo (Women's Tennis, 2005-09), Edgar Rodriguez (Men's Tennis, 2008-11) and Emily Tangwar (Women's XC/TF, 2007-2010). Out of the six honorees, four have already been inducted into the USC Upstate Hall of Fame (Childers, Gallman, Novo and Tangwar).

Morgan Childers Caddell: Decorated arguably as the best Spartan pitcher of all-time, and one of the best in the ASUN Conference, Caddell is the only player in the history of Upstate Athletics to have her number retired. A three-time ASUN First Team All-Conference selection, she was selected as both the ASUN Pitcher and Freshman of the Year in 2008, while also earning All-Freshman Team accolades. Throughout her career, Caddell also received ASUN Second Team All-Conference as a sophomore in 2009 and was selected to the ASUN All-Tournament Team in 2010 and 2011.

She is the only player in ASUN history to have won both Pitcher and Freshman of the Year honors in the same season, and is one of 10 players all-time to be named ASUN All-Conference all four years.

Caddell was also recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a Second Team All-Region honoree in 2008 and 2011, and on the Academic All-District Team in both 2010 and 2011.

She was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week nine times throughout her four-year career and tossed six no-hitters. Caddell helped the Spartans make history during their first year in the ASUN by sharing the Regular Season Championship. As a junior in 2010, Upstate finished runner-up at the ASUN Tournament. A member of two 40-win teams, Caddell pitched eight innings or more in a game twice during her career.

Caddell's name sits all throughout the Upstate record book from a career, season and game standpoint. She is the all-time leader at Upstate in career opponent batting average, strikeouts over a seven-inning game, wins, saves, appearances, games started, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched and strikeouts. She is also fourth all-time in career ERA at 1.32.

For a season, Caddell holds four of the top-10 pitching records for a season in opponent batting average, strikeouts over a seven-inning game, wins, appearances, games started, complete games, innings pitched and strikeouts. She is the single-season record holder at Upstate in opponent batting average, appearances, shutouts, innings pitched and strikeouts. Caddell is tied for the most wins with 34 in 2010 and saves after compiling four in 2009. She also sits fifth in lowest ERA for a season at 1.01 in 2010.

Presently, Caddell holds the first eight spots in the Upstate record book for strikeouts in a game highlighted by a school record 17 against North Carolina A&T on March 21, 2010.

At the ASUN level, she is the all-time leader for wins in conference history at 113. Caddell is ranked in the top-10 for the league in career appearances, shutouts, strikeouts, innings pitched, complete games, games started, saves and earned run average.

Josh Gallman: Gallman, a native of nearby Gaffney, South Carolina, played for the Spartans from 2006-10 and was recognized as the university's Student-Athlete of the Year twice.

A three-time A-Sun All-Conference selection, including twice on the First Team, Gallman is currently the all-time leader at Upstate with seven career victories, 21 top-five and 33 top-10 finishes.

As a freshman, Gallman helped the Spartans score a runner-up finish in the 2007 NCAA Division II national championship. In 46 career events, he finished under par in 57 rounds and holds the program's best scoring average at 72.68.

As a sophomore during the 2007-08 season, Gallman recorded the best winning percentage in school history at .938.
Â
In 2009, Gallman won the season-opening Rutgers Invitational as he shot a 66 in the final round, which tied him for the lowest round in program history.

During his senior year, Gallman was named a third team Academic All-American by ESPN the Magazine. Gallman was also a two-time Cleveland Golf/Srixon Academic All-American. He also finished with a program-best 71.42 scoring average in his final season.

Gallman owns three of the top 10 season scoring averages in program history and four of the top 10 season winning percentages.

Gallman graduated from Upstate in 2010 with a degree in business marketing. He served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Spartans from 2011-12 but spent a majority of his time playing golf professionally, which he still does today. He played full time on the eGolf Professional Tour and appeared in one Nationwide Tour event in 2010.

Perish Goggins: Goggins one of the best track and field athletes to attend USC Upstate made his mark early and often in the Spartans record book. At the 2008 ASUN Indoor Championships he was named the Most Outstanding Freshman Performer after he set the school record in the Heptathlon with 4,417 points. At the 2009 ASUN Outdoor Championships, Goggings took home Most Outstanding Field Performer honors after winning both the High Jump and Long Jump events. Goggins capped off his career with a High Jump championship in 2012. The Palmetto State native still holds the Outdoor School Records in the High Jump (2.09m) and Long Jump (7.08m).

Anna Novo: Novo burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2005-06 and was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection in singles after leading the Spartans to a 7-2 conference record and a third-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. She also led the team to the second round of the NCAA Division II Regionals. She was again named a PBC First Team All-Conference selection in singles as a sophomore in 2006-07 after leading the Spartans to a 21-6 overall record and a 10-1 mark in the PBC. She helped lead Upstate to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional championship and the program's second-ever appearance in the DII Nationals. She earned back-to-back NCAA Division II All-America honors from the ITA.

When Upstate transitioned its athletic program to NCAA Division I membership to start the 2007-08 season, Novo and the women's tennis team flourished just as it had on the Division II level. Novo was named the A-Sun Player of the Year after leading the Spartans to a 17-3 overall record, a perfect 11-0 conference mark and the regular season conference championship. She earned A-Sun First Team All-Conference honors along the way. She again earned First Team All-Conference honors from the A-Sun as a senior in leading the Spartans to a 13-4 overall record and an 8-2 mark in the conference.

Novo is well-represented in the Upstate record books and ranks first all-time with 161 career combined wins, 90 career singles victories, 71 career doubles wins, 52 combined wins in a season (2007-08) and 47 singles wins in a season (2008-09). She is third all-time with a career .796 winning percentage in singles play. She was also a standout in the classroom and received four conference academic awards as well as earning ITA Scholar Athlete honors.

Novo graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Information Management Systems and went on to receive a research master's degree in Business Administration from Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. She currently lives in the Netherlands with her husband, Daniel, and is an IT Internal Auditor for the AkzoNobel Corporation.

Edgar Rodriguez: Rodriguez played for USC Upstate from the Fall of 2008 to the Spring of 2011 and became one of the top players in program history. The native of Colombia is the only Upstate men's tennis player to be named ASUN Freshman of the Year, when he took home the honors following the 2009 season. Rodriguez earned an All-Freshman team accolade in 2009 and was named First Team All-ASUN Conference in both 2009 and 2010. Rodriguez finished his career with 45 singles wins (ranks fifth all-time in Upstate history) and 51 doubles wins. Rodriguez left USC Upstate with the best doubles winning-percentage (.773) in school history.

Emily Tangwar: On the cross country course, Tangwar ranks fourth all-time in school history in the 5K after running a time of 18:08.00 during her freshman season at the 2007 A-Sun Championships. She would go on to finish runner-up at the A-Sun Championships that season, tying her for the second-best finish in school history with Joan. For her performance that season, Tangwar was named the A-Sun Freshman of the Year while also earning A-Sun First Team All-Conference recognition to go with her spot on the All-Freshman Team. Throughout her career, Tangwar was named the A-Sun Runner of the Week three times.

She posted her first career victory at the 2007 Citadel Invitational, and tallied six top-10 finishes that season. Tangwar would add another individual victory during the 2008 Eye Opener Invitational. Overall, she recorded two wins and compiled 11 top-10 performances during her four-year career.

On the track, Tangwar ranks in the top-10 all-time in 11 different categories on both the indoor and outdoor circuit. Those categories include the 800-meters, mile, 1500-meters, 3000-meters, 5000-meters, 10,000-meters and career points. Tangwar is a three-time A-Sun Indoor Individual Champion in the mile, 3000-meters and 5000-meters, all coming in 2008-09. She also took home top individual honors at the 2009-10 A-Sun Indoor Championships in the 5000-meters.

Tangwar was a four-time First Team All-A-Sun performer throughout her career in the mile, 3000-meters and 5000-meters. She earned three First Team All-Conference honors in 2008-09 and one in 2009-10. Emily was also named Second Team All-Conference in the 3000-meters in 2009-10.

Tangwar graduated from USC Upstate in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, BSN. She also holds a Masters degree in Nursing, MSN, which she received from Gardner-Webb University in 2014.

Presently, she is a Registered Nurse at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, North Carolina. She and her husband, Ezekiel, have two boys:Â Kipleel and Kipleting Rono.

USC Upstate was a member of the ASUN Conference from 2007-18. The Spartans joined the Big South Conference on July 1, 2018.
