CHARLOTTE, N.C. – USC Upstate's Allie Leavitt has been named to the Big South Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team for 2020, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
The Fountain Inn, S.C. native is majoring in physical education and boasts a GPA of 3.81. "Allie is a great example of what a student-athlete is by excelling in the classroom and at competitions. She has maintained a high GPA along with running PR's this cross country and indoor season," said head coach Carson Blackwelder.
Though the year was cut short ahead of the 2020 outdoor season, Leavitt finished her sophomore indoor season with four personal bests and three top-10 finishes. Her 1000m PR of 3:10.54 was good enough for second place at the Virginia Tech Challenge, and she ran a personal best 5:18.56 mile at the Big South Indoor Championships.
The Big South Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team consists of one student-athlete from each institution that meets the criteria of having completed at least one academic year at the institution, maintains at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and is of sophomore standing (academically and athletically). The team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year award are selected by the Big South Conference Sports Information Directors. This year's team combined for a 3.88 GPA, and is as follows:
