SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate Spartans are lacing up their running shoes and getting competition ready as the 2022-2023 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field schedules were announced on Friday morning by head coach Carson Blackwelder. The schedule consists of six indoor meets and eight outdoor meets, including the Big South Indoor and Outdoor Championships and the NCAA East Prelims, as well as four meets in Columbia, S.C.
The indoor season starts in Winston-Salem N.C. for the Visit Winston Salem College Kick Off December 3.
After the winter break, the Spartans head to Columbia, S.C. for their first meet of the new year, the Gamecock Opener which will be held January 14.
Their next two meets will take them to already familiar territory, as the Spartans return to Winston-Salem for the JDL Flat is Fast Invite on January 22 before going back to Columbia for a two-day meet as the South Carolina Invite runs from February 3 – 4.
The indoor season wraps up with a final regular season meet in Birmingham, Ala. As the Samford Bulldog Invite is set for February 11.
Big South Championships will be held February 24 – 25 in Blacksburg, Va.
The outdoor season gets going shortly after, as the Spartans open the season in Charlotte, N.C. for the 49er Classic on March 17 – 18.
They'll finish up the month of March at the Winthrop Invite from March 24 - 25 in Rock Hill, S.C.
Upstate hits a rapid-fire slate in the month of April as Spartans will compete in four meets over the course of three weeks.
Some Spartans will compete in the Gamecock Invitational April 8, while others will be participating in the Duke Invite the seventh and the eighth of April.
The fourth and final event in Columbia takes place April 22, as the Spartans take part in the USC Open.
April and the regular season slate wraps up where it began, in Charlotte as the Charlotte Invite runs from April 28 – 29.
The Spartans will be back in Winthrop May 10 - 12 for the Big South Championships before the NCAA East Prelims run from May 24 – 27.
