Men's Golf Looks to Carry Momentum Into the Seahawk Intercollegiate As Play Begins Sunday

Tournament Preview
Heading back to the course following a two-week layoff and carrying the momentum of posting the team's second-lowest 54-hole team total of the season, USC Upstate men's golf returns to action at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, competing against a stout field that features six teams ranked in the top-100 of the latest GolfStat Rankings.

Leading to the team's second-lowest 54-hole total of the season, the team's freshmen, Christophe Palmans and Elias Becker, paced the Spartans at the Sea Palms Invitational as both turned in career-low 18 and 54-hole totals at the event. Tying for 26^th, Palmans earned his best career finish, leading to the first Big South Freshman of the Week accolades of his career.

As a team, Upstate carded its fourth and fifth-lowest team rounds of the year, opening the Sea Palms Invitational with a 290 before posting a 292 in the second round. The Spartans turned in scores of 290-292-303-885 over three rounds as the team's 54-hole total of 885 stood as the team's second-lowest of the season.

Upstate begins play at the Seahawk Intercollegiate Sunday with 36 holes of golf before concluding the event Monday with another 18 holes. Both days feature a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. from the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
