SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Coming off its longest road trip and its first double midweek of the 2025 season, USC Upstate baseball returns to Cleveland S. Harley Park for the team's fifth straight weekend series played at home to open the year, beginning Big South Conference play against Radford. The Spartans open league play at home for the second straight season, welcoming the Highlanders for a three-game set beginning Friday afternoon.

Pitcher: Getting the call in game one of the team's first Big South Conference series, sophomore right-handed pitcher
Darin Kuskie makes his first start of the year, following four appearances out of the bullpen. He enters the start with 7.0 innings of work this season, allowing just one hit and one unearned run on the year, permitting just four baserunners in 2025. Kuskie enters his start with 12 strikeouts on the year, coming off an appearance where he struck out six hitters against No. 19 Troy.
Position Player: Making his second and third starts of the year in the midweek series at Stetson, redshirt junior rightfielder
Scott Campbell made the most of his starts, leading Upstate with a .750 batting average. He recorded three hits and reached base seven times in the two games, reaching all four times he stepped to the plate Wednesday, drawing a program-record three HBP in the game. On the year, he sports a .412 batting average while stealing four bases in as many attempts.
Radford
Pitcher: Striking out 19 hitters over 15.0 innings of work, junior right-handed pitcher Joshua Milleville enters the first weekend of conference play leading the Big South in strikeouts per nine innings, posting an 11.40 total. He's struck out at least five hitters in each of his past two appearances, punching out eight over 5.0 innings of work versus UNC Greensboro in his last outing on March 8.
Position Player: In his first season in a Highlander uniform, graduate student utility player James Ward leads the team in batting average, extra-base hits, RBI, and free bases. He sports a .400 batting average while leading the Big South and ranking fourth in the NCAA in doubles and HBP with 10 and 12, respectively.
