Jackson Stone and Herman Holst finish in the Top Ten at the Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Making their furthest trip this season, USC Upstate men's golf traveled out west for The Jackrabbit Invitational. As a team, Upstate finished tied for fourth, ranking third in the category of par 3s and second for eagles (four).

Herman Holst led the Spartans on the first day of competition, shooting 75 and 73 for a total of 148, putting him in eighth place. In the final round of competition, Holst shot a 75, for a total score of 223 and a tenth place finish in the individual field.

Jackson Stone consistently improved his scorecard, shooting 78-72-68 for a total score of 218. Highlighted by four birdies, his -4 performance in the final round earned him a sixth-place finish.

Head Coach Todd Lawton had this to say after the tournament: " We played two good rounds of golf this tournament, and we needed three. I'm proud that we bounced back and need to get better at the front end of a tournament. That's on all of us but is particularly important for us coaches as we look at our practice routines. Herman was steady throughout and Jackson's final round was easily the best of the day. Lots of positives to build upon."

The Spartans compete in the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate on March 24 and 25 in Wilmington, N.C.
