Tyler Lang Registers Multi-Hit and Multi-RBI Effort as Baseball Closes Series at No. 3 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Closing its nine-game road swing and first trip across the Mississippi River in program history, USC Upstate baseball dropped its series finale at No. 3 Texas, falling 13-3 in eight innings Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Leading the Spartans at the plate, redshirt sophomore catcher Tyler Lang notched his team-best eighth multi-hit game of the season—he has multiple hits in eight of his nine games with a hit this year—closing the day going 2-for-4 with a double. His double drove home two of Upstate's runs in the fifth, registering his third multi-RBI game of the season.

Senior first baseman Wylie Waters continued his strong weekend in the batter's box, following up on his career-high-tying three-hit performance Saturday with two more hits Sunday. Adding the Spartans' other RBI in the contest, redshirt senior third baseman Jake Armsey drove home his third run of the weekend in the series finale.

How It Happened
- B2: Scratching the game's first runs, Texas scored a pair in the second behind two productive outs, an RBI groundout from Anthony Pack Jr. and a sac fly from Casey Borba.
- B4: Expanding their advantage, the Longhorns hung another three runs on the board behind a Borba three-run shot to left.
- T5: Answering the Longhorns' runs in the prior half inning, Upstate trimmed the deficit with three tallies in the fifth. Jake Armsey drove home the first with a single into right before Tyler Lang chased home two more with a double into the rightfield corner.
- B6: Lengthening its advantage, Texas tacked onto its lead with a five-spot in the sixth. Pack Jr. drove home the first with a double while a Josh Livingston grand slam added the rest.
- B8: Scoring the final three runs of the afternoon, Texas used a Borba double ahead of a two-run home run from Livingston to cap the day's scoring.
