Regular Season's Penultimate Weekend Brings Baseball's Final Big South Series, A Three-Game Set at Presbyterian

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As the regular season dwindles with seven games remaining before the postseason, USC Upstate baseball's penultimate weekend series brings its final Big South Conference action, meeting Presbyterian in a three-game set in Clinton, S.C. The Spartans and Blue Hose—the programs that transitioned to NCAA Division I on the same day, July 1, 2007—meet for the 42nd, 43rd, and 44th times in the clubs' Division I eras (2007-pres.) with Upstate owning the edge in the series 25-16.

USC Upstate: The catalyst of Tuesday's 18-4 win over Elon, redshirt senior third baseman Jake Armsey finished the evening a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a grand slam, and seven RBI—five of which came in the fourth inning. Over his last three games, he's collected five doubles, taking the team lead in the category with his 15 two-baggers on the campaign. He enters the Spartans' final league series slashing .312/.413/.455 with four doubles and 39 RBI to complement his 15 doubles.

Presbyterian: One of two Blue Hose regulars hitting north of .300 this season, sophomore infielder Matthew Rollison paces his squad with a .307 batting average, slashing .307/.349/.540 on the campaign. He paces the club with 50 hits, posting 11 multi-hit games with 19 of his hits going for extra bases, eight doubles, three triples, and eight home runs. He's coming off a 1-for-2 day Tuesday at Tennessee that featured a home run.
