SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate women's soccer closes out a stretch of four consecutive road matches Sunday afternoon as the Spartans travel to Charlotte to take on Queens. Kickoff between the Spartans and Royals is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Upstate enters Sunday's matchup with a 3-2-2 record through its first seven matches of the 2026 season. The Spartans are coming off a 2-2 draw at Furman Thursday night, battling back from a two-goal deficit to earn the result. The draw moved Upstate to 1-2-2 on the road this season.
The Spartans have put together a strong start offensively, scoring 14 goals through their first seven contests. Upstate has scored multiple goals four times this season, including four against Hampton and three apiece in victories over Davidson and Wofford.
One of the biggest catalysts for the Upstate attack has been Liana Bryant. The Spartan forward has emerged as one of the Big South's top offensive threats during the opening weeks of the season and entered the Furman match with six goals and one assist for 13 points. Bryant has also earned Big South Offensive Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks.
Jasmyn Mitchner has provided another threat in the Spartan attack, entering the week with three goals and two assists. Upstate's ability to generate offense from multiple players has helped the Spartans produce one of their strongest starts in recent seasons.
Sunday marks the third all-time meeting between USC Upstate and Queens, with the Spartans looking to remain perfect in the series. Upstate owns a 2-0-0 record against the Royals and has yet to concede a goal in the series.
The teams first met during the 2024 season in Charlotte, with Upstate earning a 2-0 victory. The Spartans followed with another shutout last season, defeating Queens 1-0 at County University Soccer Stadium. Upstate has outscored the Royals 3-0 across the two previous meetings.
Sunday's contest is also Upstate's final road match before returning to County University Soccer Stadium. Following the trip to Charlotte, the Spartans return home to host USC Aiken Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., before opening Big South Conference play against Radford on Sept. 19.
