Hanoj Carter joins USC Upstate as an assistant track and field coach, working primarily with the sprints, jumps and hurdles groups.
Carter brings to Hub City collegiate coaching, recruiting and operations experience from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he served as associate head track and field coach beginning in 2021. During his tenure, he coached one NCAA Division II All-American, three national qualifiers, 16 all-region performers, 35 all-conference honorees and five conference champions. He also served as interim director of operations for the school’s cross-country and track-and-field programs.
Before joining IUP, Carter served as the head track and field coach at Franklin Senior High School, where he coached a state champion in the high jump and three state qualifiers.
A former collegiate sprinter, Carter earned All-America honors at both Louisiana and Northwestern State. He was a three-time individual conference champion in the 200 meters at Louisiana and set school records in the indoor 200 meters and outdoor 100 meters.
Carter earned his bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2017. He holds certifications from the USTFCCCA and USA Track & Field.
