Piscataway, N.J. - Jennifer Judge turned in a strong 77 in the final round of the Rutgers Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Rutgers University Golf Course, and USC Upstate finished 14th in the team standings, holding onto its position at the start of the day.
Judge was solid throughout the day and the 77 gave her a 36-hole total of 158. She started the day tied for 27th and moved up 15 spots into a tie for 12th. She finished the tournament tied for first in par-5 scoring.
"Jennifer just played a solid round of golf all the way around," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton. "She made a couple of birdies and didn't make any big mistakes. She played the golf course and hit a lot of greens. She stayed focused and played a great round despite changing weather conditions."
Upstate finished the day with a 343 total and finished the tournament in 14th place after posting a 36-hole total of 683. The effort allowed the Spartans to stay in 14th in front of four other teams in the 18-team field. Cheryl Lo carded an 83 Saturday and finished with a top 30 finish in a tie for 28th with a 163 total. She played her final five holes at even-par to save her round.
"Cheryl didn't have it going all day long, but finished strong to have a good tournament," said Lawton. "She really showed that when she wasn't doing well, she could steady it and shine as a competitor at the end."
