
Spartans Earn Three A-Sun Weekly Indoor Track & Field Honors

Macon, Ga. – The USC Upstate track and field team received three Atlantic Sun indoor weekly honors Wednesday afternoon following its showing at the Appalachian Invitational to open the 2013-14 season.
Senior Matt Johnson was named the Men's Indoor Track Performer of the Week while the women swept both awards. Sophomore Dominique Nock earned Women's Track Performer of the Week and KeAndrea Ladson received Women's Field Performer of the Week.
Johnson was selected as the Indoor Track Performer of the Week for the second time in his career after running in two events last week for the Spartans as they finished third in the Division I standings. He posted the highest finish for the men following a second place performance in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.43. Johnson also teamed with freshmen Cameron Pratt, Brandon Goodman and Ronald Collins to place sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.83.
Nock and Ladson helped the Upstate women to a third place finish in the Division I standings and combined for three of the six school indoor records broken at the event.
Nock picks up her second career Indoor Track Performer of the Week award. She had three top-five finishes last week highlighted by setting the school record in the 55-meter dash after placing third with a time of 7.27. Nock also finished third in both the long jump after her leap of 5.41-meters (17-09.00) and the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.59.
Ladson had an impressive showing in her first collegiate meet setting two school indoor records in the 55-meter hurdles and high jump. She was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles after a time of 8.52 and sixth in the high jump with her mark of 1.65-meters. Ladson also placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay and fifth in the triple jump.
The Spartans are back in action Jan. 17-18 at the Niswonger Invitational.
