
Track and Field Preview: South Carolina Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate indoor track and field is set to compete in the South Carolina Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Columbia, S.C. The two-day meet features roughly 60 teams, and the Spartans are sending 44 athletes to compete in 14 different track events and eight field events.

Last Time Out
Junior sprinter Jared Henderson racked up two wins and a school record in Johnson City last weekend to earn the title of Most Outstanding Male Track Athlete at the Buccaneer Invitational. Henderson raced to a mark of 6.86 seconds for a win in the 60m and a 21.37s mark to take gold in the 200m, breaking his own school record previously broken at the Clemson Opener in December.
ZoRyan Hendricks also took home a win and a school record in the 60m hurdles with a mark of 8.01 seconds, once again breaking his school record set at the Clemson Opener. Rounding out USC Upstate's event winners on the weekend was Tony Auguste with a toss of 17.41m for first place in the weight throw.
As a team, the Spartans saw four wins, three runner-up finishes, two school records, 22 top-10 finishes, and 35 personal records.
UP next for the Spartans
The Spartans will take a weekend off before heading to Blacksburg to compete in the Virginia Tech Challenge February 21-22, 2020 in their final regular season indoor meet before the conference championships February 28-29, 2020.
