Behind Career-Low 66 in the Second Round, Max Dupree Earns Runner-Up Finish as Men's Golf Concludes the Battle at Black Creek

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Returning to the top of the Spartan leaderboard for the first time since the season-opening Golfweek Fall Challenge, USC Upstate Men's Golf's sophomore Max Dupree earned his second career All-Tournament Team honor as he collected a runner-up finish at the Battle at Black Creek.

Fashioning scores of 74-66-69-209, Dupree carded the second-lowest 54-hole total of his career en route to his second top-10 finish of the year, finishing second on the leaderboard following Tuesday's final round. His runner-up finish included a pair of sub-70 rounds, including a career-low 66 (-6) in Monday's second round, a round that tied for the fifth-lowest overall in program history while tying for the third-lowest relative to par in program history.

Behind Dupree on the leaderboard, sophomore Zander Briggs marked down his career-low 54 hole total, carding 222 at the Battle at Black Creek. He marked totals of 74-75-73 to tie for 44th with his final round 73 tying for the lowest round of his career.

As a team, Upstate finished 12th in the field—tops among Big South teams, besting Winthrop in the standings—behind scores of 302-293-301-883.

Max Dupree's second round 66 marked the lowest round of his career while also tying for the fifth-lowest individual round in program history and tying for the third-lowest round relative to par in program history.
With a pair of sub-70 rounds, Dupree now has three such rounds in 2021-22 while also posting six rounds under-par through three events this season.
En route to his runner-up finish, Dupree tied for the lead at the Battle at Black Creek in par-4 scoring while tying for third in the tournament field in total birdies with 16.
Nick Willis and Brady Hinkle each carded an Eagle apiece during the event, each carding one of 25 eagles or better at the Battle at Black Creek. Willis notched his on the Par-5, 586-yard fourth hole while Hinkle nailed his on the Par-5, 526-yard 14th hole.
