Track & Field Travels to Winthrop for Adidas Winthrop Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate track and field heads to Winthrop this weekend to compete in the ADIDAS Winthrop Invitational on Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27. Please note that spectators are not allowed at the meet.
The meet kicks off with field events starting at noon on Friday and running events starting at 3 p.m. On Saturday, field events begin at 10 a.m. with running events beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The Spartans will be competing against a pair of fellow Big South members in Winthrop and Radford, along with the following schools: Allen, Ashland, Converse, Glenville State, Kentucky Christian, Madonna, Oakland, Western Michigan, Marshall, Radford, West Liberty, Coker, Gardner-Webb, Queens, Wingate.
Junior sprinter Angelnique Bryant was named Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week yesterday for her efforts at the 49er Classic this past weekend. She won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.70, which ranks first on the Big South outdoor list and 32nd in the nation.
Last Time Out
The Spartans opened up the 2021 outdoor campaign last weekend at the 49er Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte. The Spartans earned gold in four events, including Adanma Uzor in the triple jump, Kaila Hemphill in the long jump, Angelnique Bryant in the 100m, and the quartet of Bryant, Jasmine Brown, Sharetha Odom, and Anastasia Kinlaw in the 4x400m.
The women had 15 top 10 finishes in the meet, and six of those marks rank in the program's all-time top 10. On the men's side, there were 18 top 10 finishes, with 15 of those marks ranking in the top 10 in program history. Twenty-one Spartans also set personal bests.
UP Next for the Spartans
The Spartans take a weekend off before heading down to Columbia for a one-day meet at the Gamecock Invitational on Saturday, April 10.
