Track & Field Looks to Win Big at Charlotte Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate track and field is set for one final tune up before the Big South Championships as the Spartans head to Charlotte this weekend to compete in the Charlotte Invite. The two-day meet takes place at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Facility on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24.
On Friday, field events begin for the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. with the women's hammer throw, and running events kick off that evening with the women's 1500m invite at 7:15 p.m. Saturday morning, Upstate starts the day off with the women's high jump at 11:00 a.m. and the men's 4x100m relay at 12:00 p.m.
Also competing in the meet is fellow Big South member Winthrop, in addition to Appalachian State, Charlotte, Davidson, Duke, Marshall, South Carolina, and Wake Forest.
Last Time Out
A pair of school records fell for USC Upstate track and field last weekend at the USC Open as Megan Deimeke broke the record in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 51.19 meters and Tony Auguste hit a record mark of 16.58 meters in the men's shot put.
The women's side saw four top-10 finishes while the men's side saw seven, and 14 Spartans set personal bests.
UP Next for the Spartans
The Spartans will take a couple of weeks off before competing in the Big South Championships Tuesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 12.
