Spartans Set for Big South Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate track and field is set to compete in the 2021 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week, hosted at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University in High Point, N.C. The three-day meet spans Monday-Wednesday, May 10-12.
"We as a coaching staff are excited for this meet," said head coach Carson Blackwelder. "The athletes are ready and primed to do great things."
The meet kicks off for the Spartans Monday afternoon with the hammer throw and the 10,000 meter event later in the evening. After a full day of competition on Tuesday, the meet wraps up with the men's and women's 4x400m relay Wednesday evening.
On the men's side, Upstate will be competing against Campbell, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, High Point, UNC Asheville, and Winthrop. The women will be competing against the same schools, in addition to Radford.
With the cancellation of the 2020 outdoor championships, Adanma Uzor will look to defend her triple jump title while Angelnique Bryant will try to defend her title in the 100m. The Spartans will also look to repeat as the champions in the men's 4x100m, and Tony Auguste will look to repeat as the hammer throw champion.
