Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships Recap

HIGH POINT, N.C. – USC Upstate track & field concluded the 2021 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 10 podium finishes including three gold medals. The women's team finished fourth overall with 76 points while the men's team came in fifth with 65 points.
"Overall it was a great meet for Upstate. We had a lot of podium finishes, individual champions, and personal bests. The athletes stepped up when it mattered. The women finished fourth which is the highest finish at a conference championship in school history," said head coach Carson Blackwelder.
Day one of the championships was highlighted by podium finishes in the hammer throw for Tony Auguste and Megan Deimeke. Auguste finished third on the men's side with a mark of 57.71 meters, and Deimeke set a school record with a personal best mark of 51.54m for third place on the women's side.
In Wednesday's field events, Adanma Uzor defended her triple jump conference title with a leap of 12.42m for gold. On the track, the women's 4x100m relay team, comprised of Jasmine Brown, Angelnique Bryant, Anastasia Kinlaw, and Sharetha Odom earned silver with a time of 46.22. On the men's side, the quartet of Stephen Dauway, Jared Henderson, Javin Holston, and Antoine Nance took the title in the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.16.
Cameron Smith earned gold in the men's 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 14.71. In the 400m hurdles, Dion Livingstone ran a personal best time of 54.16 for a second place finish.
Bryant and Brown went 2-3, respectively, in the women's 100m for silver and bronze times of 11.74 and 12.16.
The men's 4x400m relay team wrapped up the championships with a bronze finish Frederick Thompson, Andre Green, Stephen Dauway, Dion Livingstone
Jared Keklak and Jamie Connelly each earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic Team.
