SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the third straight season, USC Upstate men's golf and BMW Charity Golf continued to grow its collegiate golf tournament as play wrapped Tuesday at The Carolina Cup presented by Taco Bell, Callaway, and the BMW Performance Center.
Â
Hosted at the Carolina Country Club, the event saw each member of the Spartan program compete in the same event for the first time as each attacked the team's home course. Attacking the course, Upstate crafted the team's lowest 18-hole team total of the season, doing so against the pin placements used for the Korn Ferry Tour's BMW Pro-Am.
Â
Four of the seven Spartans competing saw the final round feature their lowest 18-hole scoring totals of the event. Freshman Alec Prentice tied his career-low with a final-round 72 as he posted totals of 80-74-72-226 to pace the Spartans on the leaderboard. Carding Upstate's lowest 18-hole total of the event with a final-round 69—the lowest round of his career—was junior Jaskaran Sohal who carded scores of 76-82-69-227.
Â
Senior Zander Briggs finished behind the duo of Prentice and Sohal on the leaderboard as he fashioned totals of 81-75-77-233 while junior Barrett Josey and freshman Cameron Biddle rounded out the Upstate lineup marking down totals of 83-78-77-238 and 76-80-96-252, respectively. Competing as individuals, senior Panop Norasing and sophomore Christophe Palmans wrote in totals of 79-82-80-241 and 90-80-76-246, respectively.
Â
The third iteration of The Carolina Cup featured a second-straight 15-team field, the largest team field in the event's history, and saw 83 players compete.
