Â
The 2023 iteration of the event marks a return to the course for the Spartans following a nearly two-week layoff, last competing at the Graeme McDowell Invitational from Sep. 24-26. Junior Barrett Josey paced the Spartans at the event as he earned his first career top-15 finish, placing 11th, behind career-low 18 and 54-hole scoring totals, fashioning scores of 69-70-73-212.
Â
Three other members of the team's lineup joined Josey in improving their scores in their second event of the season as senior Zander Briggs (74-76-71-221), freshman Alec Prentice (74-72-77-223), and freshman Cameron Biddle (78-73-81-232) each improved their scores from the first event to the second this season. Prentice, like Josey, saw a career-low 54-hole scoring total while tying his career-low 18-hole scoring total.
Â
As a team, Upstate carded marks of 300-296-307-903 as the team's second-round 296 stands as the team's lowest 54-hole total of the season. The total also marks the lowest for the program since the first round of the 2023 Big South Men's Golf Championship.
Â
The Carolina Cup features three days of play beginning Sunday and concluding on Tuesday with 18 holes of play each day. All three days will feature live tournament coverage via GameKast Live.
