Spartans Finish Regular Season With A Strong Performance at Upstate Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Upstate participated in the final race of the regular season this past Saturday, with 14 Spartans making new personal bests.
Head Coach Carson Blackwelder was pleased with the results, stating " This was the type of race we needed. The athletes went after it early and ran fast."
In the women's 5k race, sophomore Jordan Thornton led the Spartans with her sub-20-minute performance, placing 34th overall. Right behind her was fellow sophomore Grace Glassmeyer, who put up another under 20-minute performance and new personal best, placing 60th overall. Adalie Harrison cracked a top-100Â finish, also with a sub-20-minute performance.

In the men's 8k race, junior Sam Shimanskiy led the Spartans, earning a new personal best and a top-40 finish. He was followed by senior Gabe Herron, who also put up a new personal best and a top-50 finish. All ten runners had under 30-minute performances.
