Breylin Garcia Claims Men's Basketball's Third Straight Big South Conference Weekly Award, Taking Home Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coming off his first double-double in a Spartan uniform, USC Upstate men's basketball's Breylin Garcia adds his first career Big South weekly honor, claiming Big South Player of the Week accolades, the league announced Monday.
A native of La Romana, Dominican Republic, Garcia led Upstate with a team-high 14 points and 13 rebounds versus South Carolina, the Spartans' first double-double of the 2024-25 season. His 14 points came behind a 7-of-12 shooting performance, his ninth game firing 50.0 percent or better this year. His 13 rebounds featured nine defensive rebounds, a total leading all Big South players last week. He added two assists, one steal, and one block to complement his weekly totals.
Garcia's first career Big South Player of the Week accolade makes him the 11th different Spartan in the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) to capture a conference Player of the Week honor. He joins Trae Broadnax, Jordan Gainey, Malik Moore, and Dalvin White in garnering Player of the Week selection since Upstate joined the Big South ahead of the 2018-19 season.
