APEX, NC -- The USC Upstate men's golf team heads north to compete in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State. The Spartans wrapped up the Golfweek Challenge on a high note, with four golfers finishing in the top 50 and the team shaving 14 strokes from their round one to round three scores.
Carolina Neighbors – This marks the first time since October 2017 that the Spartan men will compete in an NC State-hosted event. Upstate had two golfers finish in the top 25 out of a field of 14 teams during that competition. The Spartans last played in North Carolina in March at the ECU Intercollegiate.
Dags att tävla – It's "time to compete" for junior transfer Herman Holst, a native of Sweden. Under Coach Todd Lawton, the Spartan golf program has seen success with international recruiting, but Holst is the first known Swede on the roster since at least 2009.
Ace for the Spartans – Redshirt sophomore Caden Sanders made history for Upstate Golf, acing the 147-yard par-3 14th hole.
Rain, rain, go away! – Monday's opening two rounds are expected to encounter various weather conditions, with temperatures in the upper 60s, winds over 15 mph, and a 97% chance of rain, with expected accumulation around half an inch.

About The Course:
The Club at Twelve Oaks is a stunning and challenging course designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. Spanning over 7,132 yards, the course weaves through a picturesque landscape of hardwoods, towering pines, wetlands, and streams. Its undulating fairways and natural beauty offer a memorable experience for golfers of all skill levels.
Several holes exceed 500 yards, including the 592-yard par 5 on hole #13. The course emphasizes strategic play and features numerous risk-reward opportunities. Water hazards, firm fairways, and tricky runoffs present a test for even the most skilled players. Nicklaus' design encourages aggressive play but also offers safer, more conservative options. Overall, it's a course that demands thoughtful decision-making, where playing cautiously can often be the key to a good score.
