Event Preview:
After a successful indoor season and Big South Championship, the Spartans return to track and field for the start of the outdoor season. Upstate enters the 49er Classic after the women ranked fifth in the Big South Outdoor Preseason Poll and the men ranked third.

On the women's team, athletes to watch include Rachel Davis, who finished the indoor season as a Big South Champion in women's weight throw. Jessa Beach also enters the outdoor season having earned a silver medal in the women's weight throw.

Xavier Stone is an athlete to watch in the men's triple jump this outdoor season, having medaled in the event at the Big South Indoor Championship. Elias Harrison looks to continue his steady performance in the 800m.
