Spartans Set for GMAC Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The USC Upstate men's golf team returns to the course Sunday through Tuesday, Sept. 20-22, competing in the GMAC Invitational at Inverness Country Club.

The three-day event will feature 54 holes, with one round of 18 holes scheduled each day. The tournament marks the second competition of the 2026-27 season for the Spartans, who opened the year with a fourth-place finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

Freshman Daniel Price leads the Spartans after an impressive collegiate debut. Price finished sixth at seven-under 209, carding two rounds in the 60s while collecting a tournament-best 19 birdies. His performance earned him Big South Men's Golfer of the Week honors.

Fellow freshman Pete Chanha also opened his career with a strong showing, finishing tied for 23rd at even-par 216. Chanha closed the tournament with a three-under 69 during the third round.

Carsen Stanfield posted a 217 (+1) in his collegiate debut, averaging 72.33 strokes per round, while Lucas Cai and senior Alec Prentice each finished at 227 (+11).

Following the tournament, the Spartans return to South Carolina to host The Carolina Cup Sept. 27-28 at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg.
