
Track & Field Preview: Buccaneer Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate track and field is set to open the 2021 slate this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6, at the Buccaneer Invite in Johnson City, Tenn. The Spartans will be returning to competition for the first time in almost a year this weekend.
The meet kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday morning and, in addition to USC Upstate and ETSU, will feature Carson Newman, Converse, King, Milligan, Montevallo, North Greenville, Tennessee State, Tusculum, Southern Wesleyan, and Western Carolina.
Last Time Out
The Spartans concluded the 2020 indoor season with a trio of gold medals at the Big South Championships last February.
Adanma Uzor set a school record with her first place leap of 12.61 meters in the women's triple jump which ranks fourth all-time in Big South history. Angelnique Bryant broke a school record in the women's 60m prelims with a time of 7.40, which is the second-best time in Big South history. She proceeded to win the event with a 7.41 in the finals. Jared Henderson set a school record with a win in the men's 200m with a time of 21.23, which is also the fourth-best time in Big South History.
UP Next for the Spartans
Upstate will take a trip to Lexington, Va. next weekend to compete in the VMI Winter Classic Feb. 12-13.
